The Kinghurst: Beauty without Compromise

Designed with young homeowners in mind, the Kinghurst Model Home in Harmony is bright, fresh and eclectic. Its accents of teal and fuschia, complemented by a décor mix of rattan, beads, shell and glass, give the comforting feel of a coastal vacation. The Kinghurst is the largest 30’ Single Family Home Minto offers, with 1,700 sq. ft. for you to call your own. Innovation is key to the Kinghurst, as the floorplan is efficiently used to create six spacious living areas without compromising the open-concept flow of the home.

This model features distressed laminate flooring with a washed white tone throughout the main floor. As you step into the kitchen, you’re greeted by two-toned kitchen cabinets in warm wood tones and painted grey-teal accents. These provide a striking contrast to the light flooring, giving off a relaxing, almost retro vibe. The neutral quartz countertop and similar-toned herringbone backsplash provide a sense of elegance partnered with geometric shapes.

From the kitchen, you have a full view of the den and great room. It’s easy to flow through the main floor, leading you to the cozy den, perfect for a reading area (or home office!). This Model Home demonstrates the benefits of open-concept living, though you can choose to separate the den and great room with a dividing wall as a Flex Plan option. This space can also serve as an extension to the neighbouring great room when hosting guests. Anchoring the great room you’ll find a modern, linear fireplace, which serves as an eye-catching centrepiece. Around the fireplace, furniture with distressed woods, natural fibres and velvet upholstery are set up to welcome conversation.

The upstairs of the Kinghurst is a wonderfully versatile space. The red oak flooring continues from the main floor, creating a cohesive flow.

The master bedroom is bright and refreshing, with an ensuite bathroom that repeats the gorgeous finishes from other areas in the home such as the penny-round tile design on the shower floor, polished chrome faucets, and the floor tiles.

“We made this our eclectic house,” says Donna Correy, Lead Designer of KISS Design Group. “Chairs don't match tables. It’s a collected eclectic house. There's some vintage, there’s some super modernizing, and there's lots of color. It's layers and layers of things that do not match.”

As you ascend the plush carpeted staircase, the stainless spindles lend to the modernity of the home. When you get to the top of the stairs, it’s hard to miss the natural light shining through the oversized window in the front bedroom. Currently set up as a home office, the front room’s large window allows for natural light to help increase your well-being. This space follows the home’s theme of teal accents, with beautifully patterned wallpaper to add character to the space.

Just down the hall, next to the laundry room, you’ll find the second floor main bathroom, once again with teal features. A teal tiled shower wall immediately grabs your attention and adds to the youthful feel the Kinghurst Model Home displays. The floor is done with grey geometric tile, complementing the tiled shower wall and reinforcing the excitement two-toned décor can provide.

At the back of the home you’ll find the primary bedroom, with a large walk-in closet and stunning ensuite. Boasting a warm, wooden modern vanity with light quartz countertop, the ensuite has everything you need for an at-home spa day (or night). The sleek, neutral tile continues the theme of modern décor, while the wood plays into the overall eclectic feel.

Walking through the Kinghurst Model Home reassures you that you can still create a welcoming, open space for your new family to grow.

“We want people to be able to visualize,” says Tracey Woodman, Senior Designer for KISS Design Group. “It doesn't matter the size of your home. Everyone has different priorities. Some people like to travel, some people like to spend time outdoors, some people are minimalist.”

Outside you’ll find a long front porch where you can sit and enjoy some fresh air, as well as a single-car garage and beautiful stone work on the front of your home.

The Kinghurst Model Home in Harmony enlists the help of clean, modern lines to reinforce the aesthetic of a younger, perhaps millennial buyer who is thinking of starting a family in the near future. The home doesn’t overwhelm you, and yet you’ll never feel as though you compromised space for price thanks to its efficient layout.
