Master-planned community The Heights of Harmony wins four home production design awards, following the acquisition of two new sites in Brooklin and Courtice earlier this year
Toronto, ON (May 16, 2022) Minto Communities GTA is the proud recipient of eight wins at the Durham Region Home Builders Association (DRHBA) 2022 Awards of Excellence, held last month. Located in the Kedron neighbourhood, The Heights of Harmony launched in June 2020 and introduced Net Zero upgrades on select single-family homes to the Oshawa region, alongside the debut of a new Modern Farmhouse architectural style. At present, a second phase of release from the award-winning community is slated to launch this fall. The Heights of Harmony’s success-to-date alongside the repeated recognition from the DRHBA Awards of Excellence are positive indicators as Minto Communities GTA prepares to expand their presence in the Durham Region.

In February 2022, Minto Communities GTA announced the acquisition of four new GTA sites, with two located in Durham Region’s Brooklin and Courtice communities. The 27-acre Brooklin site is located at the northwest corner of Columbus Rd and Baldwin St N with tentative plans for 190 residences in a mix of single-family, traditional townhomes, and rear-lane townhomes. The 100-acre Courtice site is in Clarington and will follow a similar residence mix with single-family homes, traditional townhomes, and rear-lane townhomes planned as well. Though both communities are still in early conceptual stages, there will be an emphasis on making each pedestrian-friendly and walkable, featuring parks and green spaces, while incorporating leading sustainability technologies.

Minto Group releases “More with Minto - 2022 Environmental, Social, and Governance Report”

Minto Announces Winner In 2023 Dream Home Naming Contest
OTTAWA, Ontario - June 26, 2023: For the fourth consecutive year, Minto Group’s homebuilding team in Ottawa (“Minto”) engaged the community to name the Minto Dream Home for CHEO. Over 540 participants entered the 2023 Minto Dream Home Naming Contest, submitting a range of ideas, from the Canterbury to the Saddletree.
The winner of this year’s contest is the Equestrian, offering a name that reflects the 2023 CHEO Dream of a Lifetime Lottery grand prize home’s modern equestrian theme

2023 MINTO DREAM HOME DESIGN BACKGROUND
The Minto Dream Home returns to Mahogany, a modern and established community in Manotick. The Minto homebuilding team in Ottawa’s Product Design team, led by Product Development Manager Karen van der Velden, and Tanya Collins Design are once again designing the Minto Dream Home for which the duo often find inspiration from the community, design trends and even far-off locales.
The 2023 Minto Dream Home is described as “modern equestrian” by Karen and Tanya. A remarkable design with a mix of buttery leathers, dark greens and strong colours. It’s classic, rich and warm. Masculine yet elegant. Stylish and fashionable. The home features large windows, offering stunning views of the semi-private cul-de-sac lot backing onto protected green space. Crisp roof lines playing off modern Arts & Crafts exterior design elements, while the four-bedroom floorplan delivers over 4,200 square feet of interior space, plus a 3-season patio with nearly 150 square feet.
The equestrian includes stand out features like a fully outfitted media room, a bar and a lounge area in the basement. There’s a spacious den on the first floor, perfect for a home office or a guest room, and a sunset deck off the gorgeous primary bedroom. June 22, 2023 (TORONTO, ON) – Minto Communities GTA celebrated the groundbreaking on the first phase of The Heights of Harmony, the highly anticipated, master-planned community in North Oshawa’s Kedron neighbourhood. Minto Communities GTA and Metropia unveil Markham’s First Net Zero Home
Markham, Ontario - April 21, 2023: After years of research and development, Minto Communities GTA is proud to unveil the first production Net Zero home in Markham’s highly sought-after Union Village master-planned community, developed in partnership with Metropia. The Net Zero home is both the first in Markham as well as Minto Communities’ first in the GTA. Designed to produce as much energy as it consumes over a one-year period, the Net Zero home was celebrated with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark its successful qualification by the Canadian Home Builder’s Association (CHBA), the organizing body who manages Canada’s only labelling program for Net Zero or Net Zero Ready Homes.
Attendees included representatives from Minto Communities, Metropia, CHBA, and the City of Markham, including Deputy Mayor Michael Chan and Ward 6 Councillor Amanda Yeung Collucci, as well as trade partners who helped design and construct the Net Zero home: Building Knowledge, Aerobarrier, RN Design, and Bluewater Energy. This milestone moment represents the future of development where more efficient and sustainable homes will be essential to cut greenhouse gas emissions for a healthier future.

Net Zero home upgrades were introduced to Union Village in the second phase of sales in April 2022 which contributed to the project’s exceptional reception and sell-out success. The unveiling of Minto Communities’ first Net Zero Home in Markham and the GTA continues its long history of pursuing more sustainable ways of building and designing. Alongside the Net Zero upgrade offerings in Markham and Oshawa, Minto Communities has also been progressing steadily on the construction of a community energy geo-exchange system at the North Oak master-planned community in Oakville. Geo-exchange systems leverage the consistent and stable temperatures beneath the earth as a source of low-carbon energy, reducing the use of fossil fuels for space heating and cooling by up to 95%. Geothermal field drilling was completed in Spring 2022.
The Union Village master-planned community is currently under construction. To date, 215 homes have been constructed and occupied. A total of 22 Net Zero Ready Homes will be constructed as part of phase 2.

The Net Zero Home Labelling Program provides the residential construction industry and consumers with a clearly defined and rigorous two-tiered technical requirement that recognizes Net Zero and Net Zero Ready Homes. It also recognizes the builders and renovators who provide them. To date, over 1,000 homes in Canada have been labelled through CHBA’s Program. Builder and renovator members who voluntarily take part in the Program must take training as part of the qualification process. Minto Welcomes Christ Fellowship Church to Westlake
CITY OF WESTLAKE, FL — (March 6, 2023) — Minto Communities USA, the master developer and primary home builder of Westlake, welcomes the first house of worship to the city since it was incorporated in 2016. After months of planning, fundraising, and some pandemic-related construction delays, Christ Fellowship Church held its grand opening on Sunday, March 5, 2023. Visitors were treated to live worship music, teaching, a bounce house and family games.
In 2019, Christ Fellowship bought 13 acres from Minto off of Seminole Pratt Whitney Road at 16561 Waters Edge Drive to build a 38,000-square-foot worship center that features an 800-seat sanctuary. The church is approved for an additional 25,000 square feet of space to accommodate future growth.
Based in Palm Beach Gardens, the church has one of the largest congregations in the region with multiple locations throughout Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee counties. Church leaders saw the potential to reach even more people with a move to the fast-growing city of Westlake.
Senior Pastor, Todd Mullins, told members in a website video: “A couple of years ago, when the initial plans for Westlake were being finalized, we knew we needed and wanted to be part of this community.”
Christ Fellowship Westlake is led by Pastors Jonathan and Natalie Ferguson. The church, known for its contemporary music and worship style, offers numerous ministries related to students and young adults, kids, marriage, special missions and special needs.
“We are so glad to have Christ Fellowship Church now open in the City of Westlake,” said John Carter, Sr. Vice President of Minto Communities. “I know they have big plans to become an active member of the community and serve people throughout the entire region of Central Palm Beach County.”
Westlake is approved for 4,500 homes and more than 2-million square feet of commercial space. In 2022, the city was issued more single-family home building permits than any other municipality in Palm Beach County. Currently, Minto has a variety of single-family homes, estate homes and townhomes for sale starting in the $400s. New neighborhoods are expected to open for sales later in the year.
Minto is wrapping up construction on phase two of the Westlake Adventure Park, a sprawling $22 million amenities center. New additions expected to open over the next month include basketball courts, an adult lap pool, and a multi-purpose building with an adjoining event lawn. A resort-style lagoon pool with tower slide, covered concert pavilion, picnic area, a BMX pump park, playground and dog park are some of the amenities already open to residents for use.
On the commercial side, crews are finishing up construction of a new Publix grocery store and retail plaza, and a separate developer recently broke ground on a new retail complex that will bring a Starbucks, KFC, Taco Bell, Habit Burger, Verizon Wireless, Orange Theory, a dental practice and dry cleaners to the area. Two new 7-Eleven stores are open for residents to get gas, quick items or a hot meal.

Minto Communities USA ranks 18th among Top 100 Private Home Builders in U.S.
TAMPA, FL — (March 10, 2023) — Minto Communities USA has been ranked 18th among the Top 100 Private Home Builders in the U.S. by Home Builder Executive magazine based on 2022 home closings. Minto also ranked 5th for the Greatest Gain in Closings on the Top 10 Private Home Builders list for the same time period. With 1,762 closings in 2022, Minto achieved a 24% increase over 2021 closings.

Minto USA Unveils Plans for 50-Acre Business Park in Westlake
CITY OF WESTLAKE, FL (June 21, 2021) — Commercial development continues at a rapid pace in the City of Westlake. Minto Communities, which is developing the 3,800-acre master-planned Westlake community, has designed a 50-acre business park called Westlake Landings to attract a strategic mix of commercial tenants to service the surging population. The City of Westlake approved the plans last week.
Deerfield Beach-based Konover South, a premier retail real estate company, is contracted with Minto to acquire seven acres within the park to develop a pod of quick service restaurants and two multi-tenant, open-air shopping centers—one 7,000 square feet and the other, 9,450 square feet. Collectively, the area will be known as The Shoppes of Westlake Landings. It will be adjacent to a 7-11 convenience store and gas station currently under construction within the business park.
The Shoppes will feature a mix of service-related businesses and restaurants. Konover South already has commitments from a handful of tenants as it prepares to submit its building plans to the city over the next 30 days.
"We have had our eye on Westlake since the very beginning," said Bob Bedard, senior vice president of development at Konover South. "We look forward to attracting some great businesses to the area so that residents will no longer have to travel a long way for basic services. I fully expect we'll be 100% leased up by next summer."
Minto is also under contract with a local developer to buy 5.75 acres to build a 107, 290 -square-foot self-storage facility whose site plan was also approved by the City. An investment group is seeking to buy a 14.5-acre parcel for an entertainment/sports concept and a final section of Westlake Landings is set aside for a flex office/warehouse project on 17.5 acres. Discussions are underway with several interested developers.
"We wanted to create this mixed-use park to proactively plan for our commercial development activities in Westlake," said Minto Vice President John Carter. "Westlake Landings allows us to be more intentional in our approach and curate the right types of businesses to service our residents."
Westlake Landings is located on the corner of Seminole Pratt Whitney Rd. and Persimmon Blvd. Just to the north, Publix has submitted plans to the City of Westlake to build its own outdoor shopping center—Publix at Westlake Plaza— anchored by a 50,000 square-foot grocery store.
Other non-residential development in the city includes a second 7-11 store and gas station that is under construction across the street from Westlake Landings, on the east side of Seminole Pratt Whitney Road. The Constitutional Tax Collector’s Office for Palm Beach County is currently building a regional service center that is planned to open later this year and located near the Palm Beach County fire station that opened in January 2020. Two years ago, Wellington Regional Medical Center opened a freestanding emergency room and subsequently acquired 35 more acres from Minto to develop a future medical campus. In addition, Christ Fellowship Church is preparing to break ground on an 800-seat worship center located in the heart of Westlake.
The City of Westlake incorporated in 2016, and Minto commenced home sales one year later. In March 2021, Minto will start developing its fourth neighborhood of single-family homes and will break ground on the second phase of the Westlake Adventure Park, which will include basketball courts, an adult lap pool and a multi-purpose building. The community is approved for 4,500 homes at build out.
