Minto Communities and CHEO

A Partnership for a Lifetime

Minto Communities is once again a proud sponsor of the 2019 CHEO Dream of a Lifetime Lottery, marking our 19th year of partnering with CHEO. Since 2001, we’ve been proud to support the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) by building and designing the grand prize — the Minto Dream Home.

Cheo 2019

We pride ourselves on our commitment to community, while constantly striving to build strong, healthy communities for the people who live in them. Usable, public green spaces, convenient proximity to schools and amenities, and initiatives like our community park parties, sponsorships, and the Minto Recreation Complex are just a few things that we’ve done to build communities for people first. For us, our partnership with the CHEO Foundation is just a logical extension of that commitment.

We maximize the positive impact of our partnership with CHEO by doing what we do best — bringing together the best skills within our network to build a truly dream-worthy home. Together, with our valued designers, trade partners, consultants, and suppliers we have one united goal — to build a grand prize that inspires all who visit it to purchase tickets to raise as much money as possible to support the families who rely on CHEO for treatment and care.

Every year is an opportunity for us to push the boundaries on innovative home building and design and create something truly inspirational — and this year is no different. In the culmination of significant research and development, for the first time ever, this year’s Minto Dream Home is a Net Zero Energy home. Long before the start of our partnership with CHEO, we’ve been devoted to constantly evolving our methods to build the best homes possible for the people who will live in them. Naturally, the decision to build a home that produces as much energy as it consumes seemed like the perfect approach.

Cheo 2019

The work of the CHEO Foundation touches half a million lives annually; patients, family members, friends, medical practitioners, and researchers. So it’s no surprise that many of us at Minto Communities have stories about what CHEO means to us, personally. Needless to say, we’re grateful that CHEO is part of our community, and we feel truly honoured to be able to give back and support the hospital.

Last year alone, the CHEO Dream of a Lifetime Lottery raised $4 million, selling 76,500 tickets. We had 35,000 visitors to the Minto Dream Home and over 70,000 people who viewed the virtual tour online during the lottery. Together with CHEO since 2001, we’ve sold over a million tickets for the Dream of a Lifetime Lottery and raised close to $60 million in total.

Beyond raising money for the Foundation, we hope that the Minto Dream Home inspires people to live well in their own homes and open themselves up to the possibilities within their own spaces and communities. We hope our work with CHEO encourages people to support valuable organizations large and small in their own communities to make them stronger, healthier, and better.

We’re absolutely thrilled to partner with CHEO for the Dream of a Lifetime Lottery to affect positive change within our community, and we hope this partnership continues for many years to come.
