Schools around Arcadia

Arcadia is surrounded by great schools on either side of Highway 417 in Kanata, such as Holy Trinity Catholic High School, Castlefrank Elementary School, All Saints High School, Earl of March Secondary School, and more. Use the school-locator tool provided by Ottawa’s four boards to find the best schools in the proximity to your home, such as this one for the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board.

Find the right school for your child

It can seem daunting; there’s a lot to consider. Namely, will your child receive the education you want for them? Take time to explore the websites of Ottawa’s four school boards to help narrow down your search.

If you’re new to Canada and need help navigating our school system, the school boards have great Family Reception Centres with helpful attendants and resources. Book an appointment for you and your child to get acquainted with their new school.

Registering for kindergarten

If your child turns four years old before December 31, they are eligible to start kindergarten by September of that same year.

Each school board has a comprehensive system in place to help you register your child at their new school and tools to make the process as smooth as possible. Plus, most schools host open houses where you and your child can meet teachers and tour the classroom to see if it’s the right space.

Transferring to a new school

If your child was attending school before your big move, you’ll need to transfer them to a closer school. Transferring to a new school requires some paperwork, so be sure to check your new board’s website for details and deadlines.

Exceptions can be made for your child to continue attending their old school providing it’s nearby and transportation can be arranged — speak with your current school board to learn more.

If you are considering switching your child to a new board altogether, be aware that often specific requirements must be met before a transfer can proceed.
