Family Living East Gwillimbury

East Gwillimbury, located immediately north of Newmarket, has a rich heritage and deep historic roots. Early settlement of the town dates to the late eighteenth century when a group of Quakers were attracted to the town and formed the communities of Sharon, Holland Landing and Hackett’s Corners and Queensville.

East Gwillimbury is the first jurisdiction in Canada to require ENERGY STAR® certification for all homes and residential units. This is a great benefit to these homeowners as energy-efficient housing not only costs less but is more comfortable to live in. Queen’s Landing is committed to  “green living”, using sustainable building principles and offering the most up to date homes with third-party certification.

Residents are well served by transportation. Highway 404 and Highway 400 are just down the street making it easy to get to work or other areas within the GTA. The Highway 404 expansion is now open and goes from Green Lane to Ravenshoe Road. Public transportation such as York Region Transit operates bus services to Sharon, Holland Landing, and Mount Albert. GO Transit offers trains and buses to Toronto from the nearby East Gwillimbury GO Station.

There are nine elementary schools in East Gwillimbury with more coming, including one right in the Queen’s Landing community.
