What are farm-inspired homes?

Sustainability

What sustainable community features are at Wildflower?

Sustainability is at the core of Wildflower. The community will have features built with the surrounding environment in mind, including a pollinator highway to support ecosystem growth, water efficient and native plant species, a community garden and edible pathways to promote sustainable food sourcing, and a stormwater pond for irrigation.

What sustainable features are included in Wildflower homes?

Wildflower homes will be ENERGY STAR certified, making them energy efficient and cost effective for homeowners. On top of that, some of the sustainable features included in Wildflower homes are:

  •  Premium low-E argon windows and patio doors
  • Water efficient fixtures and water wise appliances
  • Programmable thermostats
  • Low VOC paints
  • Heat Recovery Ventilators (HRVs)
  • Increased air tightness and insulation
  • Green/sustainable packages are also available to purchase to further enhance the sustainability of your home.

What are ENERGY STAR certified homes?

ENERGY STAR certified homes have higher insulation levels, more efficient heating and cooling systems, additional air-sealing, high performing windows, doors, and skylights, as well as a whole-home ventilation system.

What does that mean for you? Your home will be built to be about 20% more energy efficient than typical homes, saving you up to $300 per year on utility costs. ENERGY STAR certified homes save energy, save you money, and help the planet.

Are there electric vehicle chargers at Wildflower?

All garages will be wired with a dedicated 240V/50amp circuit to allow for electric vehicle charging.

Neighbourhood

Is there a dust mitigation plan in place during construction at Wildflower?

While we can’t control all environmental factors, our land and construction teams follow all City of Airdrie guidelines and we have a city approved erosion control/dust mitigation plan in place.

On-site weekly inspections during all four seasons are undertaken and submitted to the city for record keeping. Ongoing surface treatments include the use of water during spring, summer, and fall, as well as the application of calcium chloride solution treatments to the gravel to minimize dust creation. In addition, revegetation of graded areas will be undertaken to produce grass coverage as a natural dust mitigation measure.

What schools are near Wildflower?

Wildflower will be a complete community with an elementary school, middle school, and high school onsite. Additionally, Wildflower is in walking distance to Ralph McCall School and C.W. Perry School.

Will there be retail spaces at Wildflower?

There will be a commercial site on the southeast side of the development.
