Wildflower Homes

What is Wildflower?

Wildflower is a new master-planned residential community in Airdrie by Minto Communities. Wildflower will feature farm-inspired single-family and multi-family homes, as well as a community garden, pathways, and outdoor spaces designed for gathering.

What are farm-inspired homes?

Wildflower will offer three elevation styles on single-family homes – traditional, rustic, and modern. These homes draw inspiration from the materials and features found at the farm, accenting the landscape at Wildflower. Check out more about these elevations here.

What is the The Hillside Hub?

Sustainability

What sustainable community features are at Wildflower?

Sustainability is at the core of Wildflower. The community will have features built with the surrounding environment in mind, including a pollinator highway to support ecosystem growth, water efficient and native plant species, a community garden and edible pathways to promote sustainable food sourcing, and a stormwater pond for irrigation.

What are ENERGY STAR certified homes?

ENERGY STAR certified homes have higher insulation levels, more efficient heating and cooling systems, additional air-sealing, high performing windows, doors, and skylights, as well as a whole-home ventilation system.

What does that mean for you? Your home can be built to be about 20% more energy efficient than typical homes, saving you up to $300 per year on utility costs. ENERGY STAR certified homes save energy, save you money, and help the planet.

What sustainable features are included in Wildflower homes?

Ensuring a highly efficient home that offers increased comfort and quality, single-family houses have the option to achieve ENERGY STAR® New Homes certification. On top of that, some of the sustainable features included in Wildflower homes are:

  • Water Efficient: Water-efficient fixtures to help reduce consumption by up to 30% and protect residents from rising utility costs.
  • Connections to Nature: Network of trails, ponds, parks, and green space that provides easy access to nature and the outdoors.
  • Blower Door: Envelope test to achieve a normalized leakage rate (NLR) included as certified by a qualified tester.
  • EV Charging Infrastructure: Electric Vehicle (EV) charging is made easier in the garage with an included dedicated 240V/50amp circuit that EVs could be directly plugged in to.
  • Healthier Materials: Healthier use of materials and finishes such as low VOC paint will improve indoor air quality.
  • Heat Recovery Ventilation System (HRV): Efficient mechanical systems include a Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV) system that delivers fresh, filtered air throughout the home.
  • Enhanced Building Envelope: A high-performance envelope will reduce heating and cooling needs, and provide a consistently comfortable temperature throughout the home.
  • Waste/Recycling Station: An integrated under-counter kitchen waste and recycling station makes sorting waste easier and more efficient.
  • Solar Ready: Wildflower single-family homes are solar ready. A conduit runs from the mechanical room to the attic for future solar panel installation.

Is there a dust mitigation plan in place during construction at Wildflower?

While we can’t control all environmental factors, our land and construction teams follow all City of Airdrie guidelines and we have a city approved erosion control/dust mitigation plan in place.

On-site weekly inspections during all four seasons are undertaken and submitted to the city for record keeping. Ongoing surface treatments include the use of water during spring, summer, and fall, as well as the application of calcium chloride solution treatments to the gravel to minimize dust creation. In addition, revegetation of graded areas will be undertaken to produce grass coverage as a natural dust mitigation measure.
