Beat the Heat at These Bridgeland Ice Cream Shops & Gelato Places

Whether you're looking to cool down or just have a craving, we've got the scoop on some of the best places to for for ice cream or gelato in Calgary! We’re taking this opportunity to spotlight some local gems found right in Bridgeland, one of Calgary’s most lively neighbourhoods and home to our under-construction condo, Era!

Read on and explore the local businesses that have got us screaming for ice cream in Bridgeland!

Lukes Drug Mart

112 4 Street NE

A drug store may not be your first thought when you think ice cream but Lukes Drug Mart is a slice of Calgary history. As the city’s oldest independently owned pharmacy, it's not your average drug store. Lukes is a one-stop-shop for groceries, coffee, local goodies, specialty stationary, and of course - soft serve ice cream. The best part? It’s right across the street from Era!

This local favourite switches up its flavour offerings regularly, and you’ll always be on the edge of your seat waiting for the ice cream offerings. Past flavours have included classics with a twist like Spiced Chocolate and unconventional options like Thai Basil. One recent flavour we particularly liked is BC Cherry and Milk.

Noto Gelato

236 4 Street NE

Head up the block from Era and find yourself at Noto Gelato, offering authentic handcrafted Italian gelato. Any Italian will tell you gelato is distinctly not ice cream, but regardless this spot one of our Bridgeland favourites for cool treats.

Once upon a time, Bridgeland was a common landing spot in Calgary for Italian immigrants, so this shop’s classic Italian flavours feel just right. Find everything from Aperol Spritz to Stracciatella and Nonna’s Cannoli at Noto Gelato.

A Calgary staple, Village Ice Cream opened their fourth scoop shop right in the heart of Bridgeland. Make a pit stop for a scoop or two on the way to Murdoch Park or the Bridgeland-Riverside Off-Leash Area with your furry friends.

Village’s mouth-watering seasonal flavours change monthly. Right now, get a taste of the Calgary Stampede with Pancake Breakfast or Mini Donut. They’ve also got you covered with seasonal vegan flavours, Iced Capp and Orange Creamsicle.
