  3. Jacobsons - Try some of the fine foods and artisanal buys at this artisanal grocer - perfect for creating the ultimate charcuterie board and for weekly fresh bread, dairy products, and baked goods.

Living sustainably is about consistently doing more to adapt to greener living practices. Did you know another Minto LEED-certified project was at The ROE? This LEED® Certified project received Gold level certification in 2018.  

Here are some ways that we've made efforts at 88 Beechwood to live green, starting with our LEED-Silver certification:

  1. Green spaces & rooftop terraces: Our material selection and green roof contribute to reducing a "heat island" effect, while carefully crafted exterior lighting minimizes light pollution.
  2. Cutting water consumption: We've installed low-flow water fixtures and incorporated drought-tolerant planting in our green spaces, significantly reducing the need for irrigation water.
  3. Cleaner construction: Our building is projected to divert 75-80% of construction waste from landfills, ensuring a minimal environmental footprint throughout the construction process.
  4. Beyond our walls: We’re steps away from public transportation to keep more cars off the road. We’ve also included EV charging stations to encourage eco-friendly transportation options and secure bike storage. Plus, our building-wide high-speed internet and collaborative space reduce the need for unnecessary work or school travel.
  5. Energy efficiency: 88 Beechwood is built with energy-efficient heating and cooling equipment, enhanced commissioning processes and low VOC-emitting materials such as paint and flooring.

We've partnered with local institutions like the Beechwood Market, operating from late spring to early fall in nearby New Edinburgh Park, so you can get your fridge filled right here in your community.  As a sponsor of the Ottawa Street Markets for three years running, Minto is proud to support local artisans and farmers. Just across the pond, in Toronto, here at Minto we also run a High Park Farmers' Market all summer long at High Park Village.

Online Option: The market operates year-round online! Keep the support going with places like Chew That, about a 4-minute walk from 88 Beechwood. 

Indoor and Year-Round Option: The Farm Store at 1805 Gaspe, 3 km from 88 Beechwood, offers an indoor farmers market year-round. This is a brick-and-mortar shopping experience, mirroring the outdoor Ottawa markets, but under one roof!
