Palm Beach County Tax Collector Opens New Office in Westlake
CITY OF WESTLAKE, FL — (February 25, 2022) — A new service center for the Palm Beach County Tax Collector office is now open to the public in the City of Westlake. Located at 16440 Town Center Parkway South, the 23,735-square-foot facility will serve the growing population of Westlake and neighboring communities.
On Feb. 22, Anne M. Gannon, the Constitutional Tax Collector serving Palm Beach County, dedicated the service center with a ribbon cutting and tour for invited guests. The building was designed with a modern look and feel and has a comfortable, spacious area inside to service residents.
In 2020, the agency purchased 4.63-acres from Minto Communities USA, the master developer of Westlake, to build this state-of-the-art facility. It replaces an office that was located in Royal Palm Beach, which is now closed.
“We are so thrilled that the Tax Collector chose Westlake to build its newest service center,” said John Carter, Minto Communities USA Senior Vice President. “Going forward, it will be a lot more convenient for our residents to take a driver’s test, register their automobile or boat, or apply for a hunting for fishing license.”
“The increase in population in the western communities required a broad view of how best to provide services in the community,” Gannon said. “Our priority is to serve as many clients as efficiently as possible, and that meant building a new service center that can handle more clients. With the need for property to build a new facility at a premium, we purchased the land in Westlake as it was a perfect location to build the new service center to provide a gateway to better serve our western communities,” she added.
Westlake is approved for 4,500 homes and over two-million square feet of commercial development. The Tax Collector office is the fourth non-residential development to open in the city since it incorporated in 2016. A fire station, a stand-alone emergency medical facility, and 7-Eleven convenient store and gas station have all come online over the past few years, with more development in the pipeline.
The city council recently approved site plans for a new shopping center and cluster of restaurants known as the Shoppes of Westlake Landings, as well as a new family entertainment center known as Adrenaline World. Construction on both projects is expected to start in 2022. A self-storage facility is also being planned for the 50-acre Westlake Landings business park. Nearby, a second 7-Eleven store should be open for business soon.
Meanwhile, Publix recently broke ground on a multi-tenant retail center that will be anchored by a 50,000-square-foot grocery store, and Christ Fellowship Church has broken ground on an 800-seat worship center.
