New State-of-the-Art Fire Station Opens in Westlake

CITY OF WESTLAKE, FL – (January 31, 2020)  — Palm Beach County Fire Station 22 is officially open and operating in the City of Westlake. Located at 5060 Seminole Pratt Whitney Road, it is staffed with six firefighters on shift around the clock to serve the people living in and around the city.

On Jan. 9, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue held a grand opening event at the station, designed with four bays for an advanced life support engine and rescue unit, a 3,000 gallon water tender to help with the lack of fire hydrants in some areas, a brush truck, and a high water vehicle. It's the first station in the county built to withstand a Category 5 hurricane.

The fire station broke ground in February of 2019 on a 4.5 acre parcel of land donated by Minto Communities USA, the master developer and lead builder of Westlake.

"Donating this land was something we promised Palm Beach County we would do as part of our development order, and we are thrilled to see the station operational for the safety and benefit of the local residents. It's just another example of how fast this community is maturing," said John Carter, vice president of Minto Communities.

Station 22 is the second completed nonresidential development in Westlake, joining the ER at Westlake— a 10,379-square-foot free-standing emergency medical facility owned and operated by Wellington Regional Medical Center. Other projects are in the planning stages or under construction.

The City approved a 91-acre private college preparatory school and sports academy which is set to break ground soon. Adjacent to the school, Christ Fellowship Church received approval to build a new 13-acre campus. FPL is finishing up construction on a new 400-acre solar energy center, and a new 7-11 gas station and convenience store is set to start construction later this year.

Westlake's first neighborhood, The Hammocks, is nearly sold out. Minto is currently selling in Phase 2 of its second neighborhood, The Meadows, where single-family home prices range from the low $300s to mid $500s. The 3,800-acre Westlake community is approved for 4,500 homes and more than 2-million square feet of commercial space.

Westlake is located at 16610 Town Center Parkway North in the City of Westlake, on Seminole Pratt Whitney Road between Southern Blvd. and Northlake Blvd. For more information on the community call 888-299-3628 or visit www.WestlakeFL.com
