MINTO COMMUNITIES DONATES $10,000 TO THE SAMMYRIDES PROJECT TO ASSIST FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN UNDERGOING CANCER TREATMENT

Charitable organization plans 2400 mile bicycle ride from Phoenix to Sun City Center

SUN CITY CENTER, Fla. – February 7, 2011 – To help raise awareness of pediatric cancer and support those families battling the disease, Michael J. Belmont, president of Minto Communities, announces that the company has donated $10,000 to the SammyRides project.

SammyRides is a project sponsored by Team Will, a non-profit organization made up of Sun City Center cyclists who volunteer their time and resources to support research and help families whose children are currently undergoing cancer treatment. The project is named in honor of Sammy Rotman, a 9-year old girl who lost her battle with Osteosarcoma.

“It is our honor to support Sammy’s family, the SammyRides project and the Team Will organization in their mission to help families deal with pediatric cancer,” states Belmont. “We hope the community will join us in their support as well as wish the volunteer cyclists safe travels in their excursion across the U.S.”

On March 3rd, Lois Libenson, the grandmother of Sammy, will accompany five volunteer riders -- whose average age is 70 – on a 2,400 mile voyage that starts in Phoenix, Ariz. and concludes in Sun City Center on May 1st.
