Minto Communities GTA introduces first phase of master-planned community The Heights of Harmony, increasing housing options for families in Oshawa with idyllic natural surroundings

Oshawa, ON (June 04, 2021) – Minto Communities GTA launches the highly anticipated master-planned community The Heights of Harmony next week, releasing new single-family homes and townhomes to North Oshawa’s Kedron neighbourhood at an attractive price-point, enabling more home buyers to enter the real estate market. The first phase of release will offer 20’ traditional townhomes, and single-family homes in 36' and 43’ in a variety of architectural styles, including the introduction of a brand-new range of designs in the Modern Farmhouse style.

Spanning 90-acres, The Heights of Harmony is Minto Communities GTA’s second foray into Oshawa, increasing much-needed family housing at more accessible pricing to one of Canada’s fastest growing communities. In addition to the debut of the new Modern Farmhouse architectural style, Phase One of The Heights of Harmony will allow single-family home purchasers to select a Net Zero Ready upgrade option for their homes, a result of the extremely successful uptake of this offering in sister community Markham’s Union Village earlier this spring. Net Zero homes can improve comfort, performance, and enable homes to create as much energy as they consume over a calendar year, reducing emissions by up to an astounding 85%.

“At Minto Communities GTA, we understand that a home is one of the most important purchases families will make in their lives and that has informed our approach from conception to completion at The Heights of Harmony,” says Mike LaPlante, Vice President of Land Development, Minto Communities GTA. “We’re proud to bring more options for families, young couples, and new homebuyers in the Oshawa community at The Heights of Harmony through homes that are both competitively priced and expertly designed with Net Zero Ready upgrade options, while bringing future residents closer to nature through parks, green spaces, and a trail network.”

The first phase of release will offer 20' traditional townhomes, and single-family homes in 36' and 43' in a variety of architectural designs, resulting in a dynamic streetscape with offerings in French Country, Period Revival/Tudor, Craftsman, Canadiana, and Modern Farmhouse styles.

Inspired by the rolling hills of the Kedron Farms, The Heights of Harmony community will blend a variety of architectural styles and materials, resulting in dynamic and visually appealing streetscapes. Purchasers will have their pick of homes in different sizes and designs, including offerings in French Country, Period Revival/Tudor, Craftsman, Canadiana, and Modern Farmhouse styles. The Modern Farmhouse style, a first for Minto Communities GTA, is designed to feature a contemporary aesthetic, clad in siding and brick with large picture windows and contrasting architectural features. Paired with touches of the farmhouse aesthetic inspired by the context of the site, this style aims to offer clean and contemporary designs that are visually striking while complimenting the other homes offered at The Heights of Harmony.

The themes of flexibility to capture different purchaser needs are woven throughout The Heights of Harmony with layouts to suit every preference, stage of life and lifestyle. A variety of traditional townhomes and single-family models will feature ground floor bedroom and bathroom options to support multi-generational families and aging-in-place. All homes will feature spacious backyards, with singles boasting the opportunity to add-on covered terraces to further emphasize the connection to the outdoors and access to fresh air and natural light.

Continuing to deliver on Minto Communities GTA’s commitment to wellness-inspired residences and creating seamless connections to nature, a brand-new 28-acre park will anchor The Heights of Harmony community. Lush green space will lend itself to picnicking al fresco, the inclusion of sports fields and amenities support active living for both children and pets, and pathways to the neighbouring 6km trail system will provide families with recreation options that can be enjoyed year-round. A community pond within walking distance of homes is a gorgeous spot for homeowners to take in the scenery solo, or enjoy with neighbours, friends and family.

Net Zero Ready homes offer an improved building envelope through more efficient windows and increased insulation, enhancing resident comfort and reducing outside noise from vehicles and pedestrians. This upgrade package will also include more efficient mechanical equipment and a Zoned HVAC system, allowing different temperatures to be set in different areas of the home, reducing energy use and increasing comfort. Additionally, as standard on all homes, roof designs have been optimized for the installation of solar panels in the future.

“Building upon our history of innovation, it’s really exciting to be introducing Net Zero Ready Home options to the Oshawa community after their fantastic reception in Markham earlier this year,” says Carl Pawlowski, Project Manager Sustainability, Minto Communities GTA. “Net Zero homes are a win-win – they’re significantly better for our environment but they’re also better in terms of comfort for homeowners.”

Homes at The Heights of Harmony will also come equipped with smart home feature system designed to streamline your life with the tap of an app. Convenience enhancing features include a smarter home water leak sensor, smarter home video doorbell, smarter home door lock and smarter home outdoor camera, unique to single-family homes.

Located in North Oshawa at Harmony Road N. and Winchester Road E., The Heights of Harmony is nestled amongst rolling open landscapes in the peaceful and quiet Kedron neighbourhood, while still offering the convenience of city-living through retail, commercial, educational amenities and crucial transit connections to the 400-series highway, the Oshawa GO Station and Oshawa city centre. The Heights of Harmony is a stone’s throw from a handful of golf courses and the tranquil waterfront along Lake Ontario and is connected to Toronto’s downtown core by GO transit in 30 minutes.

Once complete, The Heights of Harmony will encompass approximately 800 homes in a variety of product types, sizes, and architectural styles. The master-planned community is slated for completion in 2023, and Phase One floorplans will range from a generous 1,992-3,049 square feet, with prices starting at the high $700’s.
