Minto is Named Green Builder of the Year (Low-Rise) by BILD GTA
TORONTO, April 29, 2013 – The Minto Group was named Green Builder of the Year (Low-Rise) by the BILD (Building Industry and Land Development) Association of the Greater Toronto Area at their 33rd annual awards the evening of Friday, April 26th.
Each year, BILD presents the local home building industry's most prestigious awards to those organizations who demonstrate home building excellence, after receiving hundreds of entries in categories ranging from architecture to sustainable design. This year Minto was shortlisted as a finalist in a number of other categories, including: Green Builder Of The Year (Low-Rise); Community Of The Year – Low-Rise (Minto Southshore); Best Brochure (Minto30 Roe); Best E-Mail Marketing Piece (Minto30Roe); Best Social Media Campaign; Best Suite Design – Under 750 Sq. Ft. ( “The Bamboo” at 88); Best Suite Design – Over 1,500 Sq. Ft ( Minto775 penthouse); Best E-Mail Marketing Piece (Minto Southshore); and Best New Home Design – Semi-Detached Or Townhome Under 1,500 Sq. Ft. (Minto Southshore’s “Horizon” suite).
According to BILD, the Green Builder of the Year award recognizes the low- rise builder who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in the implementation of green building practices; differentiating themselves with an adoption of sustainable building techniques in the site planning stage right through to home design , construction and occupancy.
The BILD Association was formed through the merger of the Greater Toronto Home Builders' association (GTHBA) and the Urban Development Institute/Ontario. Representing more than 1,400 member companies, BILD is the voice of the land development, home building and professional renovation industry in the Greater GTA. BILD encourages innovations and excellence in the planning and building of sustainable communities and in the redevelopment and renovation of existing communities.
Minto has a long history of receiving Ontario green building accolades. In 2011 and 2012, the company was named EnerQuality’s Leader of the Year and Green Builder of the Year. Minto also won the Ontario Home Builders’ Association (OHBA) GREEN Builder of the Year award in 2008, 2010 and 2011. In 2012, Minto was named the Ontario Home Builder of the Year by the OHBA.
In applying for the Green Builder of the Year (Low-Rise) award, Minto highlighted its leadership in a number of areas, including: site planning, construction waste reduction, energy conservation, water or other resource conservation, green marketing techniques and partnerships.

Minto is committed to 100% third-party verification on all of its new developments; as of last November, 2,224 Minto homes in Ontario have been ENERGY STAR® qualified and since 2009, Minto has certified over 1,400 units under various LEED® programs. In 2012, Minto received five LEED®certifications – one of which was the LEED® Platinum Core and Shell certification of its flagship office tower in Ottawa, 180 Kent. 180 Kent was also the recipient of the 2012 National Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY)® award
