U.S. News & World Report Names Westlake One of 25 Popular Small Towns in the U.S.
CITY OF WESTLAKE, FL (November 30, 2021) — The City of Westlake is receiving national recognition for being a desirable place to live. U.S. News & World Report, known for ranking everything from top colleges to best places to live, named Westlake to its list of 25 Popular Small Towns to Live in in the U.S.
U.S. News examined 2020 census data to compile a list of small cities in the U.S. that have between 1,000 and 50,000 residents and offer job opportunities, perks for families and/or access to larger metropolitan areas. While the cities were not ranked specifically, Westlake appears first on the list.
“We have known for a while how special Westlake is, but it’s nice to know that others outside of the state of Florida are starting to take notice,” said Mike Belmont, president of Minto Communities, the master developer and primary homebuilder in Westlake. “We are very honored to be included on the U.S. News & World Report list.”
The report talks about how Westlake was incorporated in 2016 and has grown from six residents in 2010 to nearly 2,800 in 2020. “If you like the idea of being a part of a town’s beginnings, you may want to look at Westlake, Florida,” the report said. “It’s a master-planned community with residential, commercial and public property being developed throughout.”
The report also made a note that Wellington Regional Medical Center acquired 35 acres in Westlake and opened an emergency care facility as an extension of the main hospital campus.
