Minto Donates State-of-the-Art Workout Equipment to New Westlake Fire Station

CITY OF WESTLAKE, FL – (September 18, 2020)  — Minto Communities USA, the master developer and lead builder of Westlake, has donated $30,000 worth of fitness equipment to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Station 22, which opened earlier this year.

"The Minto team wanted a creative way to say 'thank you' to the hardworking men and women at Station 22 and give them something they could benefit from," said John Carter, Minto vice president. "It continues Minto's legacy started with the Westlake Welcome Heroes program, which gives new home discounts for people in public service such as fire fighters, first responders healthcare workers and teachers."

In addition to general exercise equipment such as a treadmill, stationary bike, free weights and the like, Minto donated some specialized gear including an oversized sandbag and weighted vests. With this available, the crew has the ability to keep fit for real life scenarios such as carrying heavy gear and moving large objects.

"Health and safety is an intricate part of the fire service. The firefighters assigned to Fire Station 22 in Westlake greatly appreciate the generous donation of additional exercise equipment to the station from Minto Communities," said District Chief William Rowley. "The firefighters serving this community will definitely put it to good use."

Station 22 opened at the end of January 2020. Located at 5060 Seminole Pratt Whitney Road on a five-acre site donated by Minto, it is staffed with six firefighters on shift around the clock to serve the people living in and around the City of Westlake. The station was designed with four bays for an advanced life support engine and rescue unit, a 3,000-gallon water tender to help with the lack of fire hydrants in some areas, a brush truck, and a high-water vehicle. It's the first station in the county built to withstand a Category 5 hurricane.

The station is the second completed nonresidential development in Westlake, joining the ER at Westlake— a 10,379-square-foot free-standing emergency medical facility owned and operated by Wellington Regional Medical Center, who also purchased the adjacent parcel for a future medical campus. Christ Fellowship Church has begun planning for a new 800-seat worship center on Seminole Pratt Whitney Road. Construction is underway on a new 7-11 gas station and convenience store, and Florida Power & Light recently completed a 400-acre solar energy center.

The 3,800-acre Westlake community is approved for 4,500 homes and more than 2-million square feet of commercial space. Home sales continue to outpace projections, and Minto has sold more than 760 single-family homes since opening in October 2017. A census report in July 2019 showed that Westlake is the fastest growing city in Florida.

Minto recently opened its third neighborhood of single-family homes for sale, The Groves of Westlake. More than 20 families camped out in early July to be among the first to choose their new homesite and sales have remained strong since. Minto's first neighborhood, The Meadows, is completely sold out and the second neighborhood, The Hammocks, is nearing sell out. Home prices start in the low $300s to mid $500s.

Westlake is located at 16610 Town Center Parkway North in the City of Westlake on Seminole Pratt Whitney Road between Southern Blvd. and Northlake Blvd. For more information on the community, call 888-299-3628 or visit www.WestlakeFL.com.
