Minto Communities Raises over $27,000 for Toys for Tots
FLORIDA (December 14, 2020) — Every year for the Minto Communities USA holiday party, employees were encouraged to bring toys for the company's annual donation to Toys for Tots. The United States Marine Corps were also in attendance to not only collect those toys, but to also be recognized for their great work and service.
But, with this year's holiday part being canceled due to COVID-19, employees decided to make monetary donations instead, raising $13,605. The Minto Foundation, Inc. a charitable organization established by the shareholders of Minto Communities USA, matched the employee donations for a total of $27,210 going to Toys for Tots.
"The entire Minto team and I are delighted to be able to present this check to the Toys for Tots program," said Mike Belmont, president of Minto Communities USA. "Even though our holiday party was canceled, the holiday spirit of Minto employees shines through."
Toys for Tots is run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve which collects and distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. Minto has a longstanding relationship with the program.
"On behalf of the Toys for Tots program and the Marines of 4th Civil Affairs Group, we are so thankful for the extremely generous donation from Minto employees and the Minto Foundation that will definitely bring the joy of Christmas to children in need," said Lieutenant Colonel Ian J. Garvey, Inspector-Instructor for the 4th Civil Affairs Group. "The past year has been so very challenging for many local families in dealing with the widespread loss of employment due to the COVID-19 pandemic, making this holiday season even more difficult. Something as simple as the gift of a new toy to an underprivileged child can make a tremendous difference in their life."
