Quinn's Pointe

Maximizing your summer enjoyment in Quinn’s Pointe

With Canada’s northern climate, summers often seem too short. That’s why it’s important to make the most of our warmest season. There are many opportunities in Quinn’s Pointe to get outside and enjoy the bright sun and warm breezes that abound during the summer months.

Discover what’s in Quinn’s Pointe

At the heart of Quinn’s Pointe, just a few minutes’ walk from anywhere in the community, sits the gorgeous Guinness Park. Featuring accents and elements uniquely designed for Quinn’s Pointe, this large outdoor space promises hours of family fun. If you’re feeling competitive, then consider a game at the tennis court — one of the mainstays of this beautiful community park. Guinness Park also offers a cool respite during the most sweltering days with the enticing splash pad and the shady gazebo.

Your kids will love playing with new community friends at the modern playground, expertly designed for their enjoyment. Plus, there is plenty of green space where a game of catch or tag will hit the spot. The fun won’t stop at Guinness Park, with plans to develop more community parks in the future.

Rainy day fun

Despite the warm weather, rain during the summer can put a damper on many outdoor activities. If you need to get out of the rain, while staying out of the house, check out the indoor pool at the Minto Recreation Complex. It was listed as one of the top 10 indoor pools in Canada by Chatelaine Magazine. It’s a great option for your family to have some fun in the water.

Further summer enjoyment in Barrhaven

If you’re looking for other places to enjoy the summer weather, there are even more outdoor destinations throughout the Barrhaven area.

Golfers can get their fill at Stonebridge Golf Club on a warm summer morning. There are also numerous sports fields throughout Barrhaven if you’re inclined to join a softball team or register your child for soccer. Popular day camps run by the City of Ottawa are also available through local community and recreation centres.

Beryl Gaffney Park provides the perfect natural environment to explore via the network of walking trails along the Rideau River. The Jock River Landing is a great place for a picnic, or to drop a line in for any of the numerous fish species that populate the river. Three other parks are also situated along the Rideau River including Chapman’s Mills Conservation Area, Heart’s Desire and David Bartlett Parks. The parks are connected by a network of paths which present a convenient destination for a cycling adventure.

Learn about conservation and habitat preservation

While at Beryl Gaffney Park, consider a visit to the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority. After visiting the centre, a trip to the Chapman Mills Conservation Area guarantees a fun, educational experience to discover their Fish Habitat Creation Projects. Coupled with a picnic lunch and some fishing or bird watching, it’s the perfect summer day right in your own backyard. For more information, check out the RVCA website.
