5 Instagram-Worthy Spots in Orléans

You don’t need to go far to find photo ops for your social media page! Orléans is full of places where you can not only have a great time, but snap a few shots to post on Instagram and give your friends some serious FOMO.

Bird flying over water

Petrie Island

Spend the day on an island, right off Trim Road! Petrie Island is an ecological wonder, with trails, lookout benches, picnic tables, wildflower gardens, and more to enjoy. You’re bound to encounter wildlife while you’re there, though it’s asked that you don’t feed them so the animals don’t become dependent on outsiders. If you’re up for a fun time, you can apply for a BBQ permit in the picnic area to really make it a great day. Whether you’re snapping pictures of friends and family, or capturing the beauty of the nature around you, Petrie Island is a must-visit Orléans destination.

Fritomania

It might be a little chipstand off the side of the road, but Fritomania is serving up some serious poutine in Orléans! Top your classic Canadian dish with bacon, sausage, mushrooms, and more to create a concoction so mouthwatering you might not want to wait to take a picture. Fritomania is located on St. Joseph Boulevard, and don’t worry if you’re not a poutine person – they also have burgers, hot dogs, sausages, pogos, and more.

Aquamermaid

Ever wanted to be a mermaid? Now’s your chance. Aquamermaid is located at the Taggart Family YMCA-YWCA on Argyle Avenue, where you can partake in a dynamic 60-minute aqua fitness class…in a mermaid’s tail! The class will let you fulfill your wildest dreams, and they even leave time at the end so you can get the perfect Instagram-worthy shot of you with your tail.

Soul Stone Sushi

A well-staged sushi photo can set off cravings for all of your followers, and Soul Stone Sushi is ready to help. The Japanese-Thai-Chinese restaurant has a myriad of rolls for you to choose from, plus an all-you-can-eat menu select days of the week. Dine in with friends or order takeout for a quiet night at home, but be sure to snap a few pictures before everything is gone!

Mer Bleue Conservation Area

Mer Bleue Conservation Area

The 3,500-hectare Mer Bleue conservation area is home to both regionally and significantly rare plants, birds, and wildlife, all a 20-minute drive from our Avalon community. Mer Bleue Bog itself is approximately 7,700 years old, and is one of the most visited areas in the Greenbelt. With sand ridges, boardwalks, natural hiking trails and forests, you can explore this natural wonder either on foot, cross-country skis, or on snowshoes. Be sure to follow the National Capital Commission’s principles of outdoor ethics if you do pay a visit to the area.

Whether you’re looking to spend the day in nature, test your skills as a mermaid, or indulge in delicious food, Orléans is full of places that are worthy of your Instagram feed.
