Minto Communities announces two condominium projects in Toronto

TORONTO — Minto Communities has announced the launch of two condominium projects on Adelaide Street West in Toronto.

The Saint will be a 47-storey tower while 123 Portland will have 114 units in a 14-storey building, stated an Oct. 2 release.

The 123 Portland project was designed by Sweeny & Co Architects and U31 in what is termed a pre-modern esthetic. Design features include off-white pre-cast frames, rustic-looking weathered steel detailing, Juliette balconies and French doors.

Construction of 123 Portland is targeted to start next summer with occupancy starting in fall 2022.

The launch of building at The Saint, at 89 Church St., is also expected for next summer with occupancy targeted for late fall 2023.

The Saint is said to reflect a Japanese minimalism ethos, with design by Wallman Architects. There will be a black, brick masonry podium with a slender, irregular-shaped tower. The spa will feature individualized stations with an infrared sauna, soaking tub and steam space. A meditation room will have one wall created with illuminated salt rock.

“With population growth and evolving purchaser habits, downtown Toronto continues to be one of the most attractive markets in North America,” said David Robins, Minto Communities division president, in the statement. “Historically, the core has been dealing with supply constraints, so we are thrilled to be in a position to launch not one, but two new and distinct projects to the city. But even more so, we’re focused on maintaining a leadership position when it comes to quality, contextual design, customer satisfaction and sustainability.”

Construction details were not released.

Minto recently wrapped up construction on 886 completed units in two other Toronto condo projects, Minto Westside at Front and Bathurst streets and Minto Yorkville Park at the corner of Bellair and Cumberland streets.
