Established in 1982 by the Washington D.C.-based National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), The Nationals is NAHB’s largest and most prestigious awards competition, highlighting North America’s best new-home sales and marketing. The annual event celebrated another year of winners earlier this month, with honours handed out in a live-streamed ceremony on March 5th.
Awards were issued across several categories this year, including:
- Homebuilders and communities
- Model homes
- Sales experience
- Architecture, interiors and sales offices
- Landscaping
- Merchandising
- Individual sales professionals
- Councils and associates
- Logos, graphics, brochures and signage
- Websites
- Special promotions
- Advertising and overall campaigns
Among the big winners for 2021, developer Minto Communities GTA took home several awards across many categories, with three different projects in the region given specific honours. Minto's 10 Silver Awards for 2021—won against 900 applicants from across the continent—landed them a finalist nod for the Nationals Gold Awards, where they took home a very big win with their 123 Portland project in the 'Multifamily Community of the Year – 4 Storeys and Above' category.
123 Portland was also lauded with silver awards in six other categories;
- Best Graphic Continuity
- Best Logo
- Best Brochure
- Best Long Video
- Best Presentation Centre
- Best Interior Merchandising of a Model over $1M
Minto also took home awards for Best Design Centre, while Minto GTA's The Saint was awarded for Best Brochure, and Union Village—a partnership between Minto and Metropia—won for Best Presentation Centre.
As Minto and Metropia gear up to launch phase two of Union Village this spring, the project is also a finalist across multiple categories for the CHBA's upcoming National Awards for Housing Excellence, being considered for:
- Best brochure/kit
- Best digital campaign
- Best print ad
- Best Sales Office
- Best Branding and Identity
Winners of the CHBA's National Awards for Housing Excellence will be announced on May 7th.
