As the early stages of construction progress at the corner of Portland and Adelaide streets for Minto Communities GTA's 123 Portland Street, the 14-storey Sweeny &Co Architects-designed boutique luxury building coming to Toronto's Fashion District is celebrating big wins at the recent Ontario Home Builders’ Association (OHBA) Awards of Distinction.

123 Portland was awarded top honours in architectural design, winning High-Rise Building (11+ Storeys), at this year's OHBA Awards, which recognize creativity, innovation, and talent of land developers, builders, renovators, designers, and marketers within the industry. 123 Portland also won in the High or Mid-Rise Ad Campaign (4+ Storeys) category, and the High or Mid-Rise Project Logo Branding (4+ Storeys) category.

Minto Communities GTA also took home awards for other developments in the Greater Toronto Area, including the Prestige Award for Project of the Year – Low-Rise category, the Architectural Design Award for Production Built Home (Two Storeys up to 2,500 ft²), and the Low-Rise Project Sales Brochure (1-3 Storeys) category with their Union Village development with Metropia.

Meanwhile, with the majority of units spoken for and an armful of awards in the books, construction is moving along at the 123 Portland site following removal of the previous buildings early this year, the start of construction in July, and a ground breaking celebration in August. Drilling for both caisson wall and pile and lagging shoring systems prepped the site for the Autumn start of excavation, which has been progressing towards a depth of three levels in the months since.

Digging now nears its final depth, with the next steps to involve the installation of a tower crane and the start of forming on the site's underground area, which will include three parking levels serving the 117 new condominium units above.

As construction advances, Minto is offering limited-time incentives on the remaining limited collection of Signature suites, two or three bedrooms, with only 10% total deposit and a $30K decor credit. Residents of these and all other suites in the building will benefit from a range of sustainability features, along with a selection of amenity spaces appointed by interior designers U31.
