Located on March Road, Brookline, our newest community, will feature a unique network of current and future pathways, trails and bike lanes that allows homeowners to enjoy their surroundings while staying close to amenities. 

Here’s a look at some of the community’s convenient pedestrian connections.

Scenic, multi-use trails and pathways

Brookline’s immediate community pathways will make it easy for homeowners to access all of their neighbourhood’s direct amenities by foot, including a future school and two parks. Additionally, these pathways will connect homeowners to March Road as well as a decommissioned rail corridor running parallel to the community. This once-active CN railway now serves as a calming trail connecting homeowners to neighbouring communities as well as Klondike Road and beyond.

Both the community pathways and railway will also connect homeowners to a six-acre preserved woodlot and stormwater pond at the edge of the community. This not-so-little slice of nature will be surrounded by its own trail way, so you can ground yourself in green space whenever you need to.

Lastly, an extensive trail network is being developed to connect Brookline to all of the new and existing developments surrounding the community, so you can truly get to know your neighbourhood.

Future bike lanes coming to March Road

Living in Brookline means you’ll also benefit from the city’s plans to add new bike lanes and sidewalks to both sides of March Road. This addition will connect to existing lanes and run the entire length of the community. In the warmer months, this will give homeowners a chance to trade the car for a little exercise while running errands. And if you work in Kanata North, you can enjoy a refreshing bike ride.

If you’d rather cycle off the beaten path, Brookline is also close to the South March Highlands Conservation Forest. This is one of Ottawa’s largest and most biologically diverse forests, offering numerous backcountry biking and hiking trails with terrain ranging from the tame to the technical.
