Minto’s Project Grow Green
At Minto, our dedication to building healthier and more sustainable communities is woven into everything we do. From the materials we use in construction to how we encourage our homeowners and residents to live greener at home, we’re always striving to find new ways to have a positive impact on our planet and the environment — no matter how big or small.
Project Grow Green is no exception.
What is Project Grow Green?
What began as an opportunity to generate awareness of our mission for sustainability and build strong community connections has become an initiative our residents in Toronto, both young and old, have grown to love.
Project Grow Green was a seed that was planted three years ago at our Leslie York Mills property. It has grown into a Toronto-wide initiative that several of our properties now take part in.
Project Grow Green Events in Toronto
Leslie York Mills
The first-ever “Grow Green” event was held in 2021 at our Leslie York Mills property. Young residents were given grow kits, including all the essentials and instructions to grow their own plants.
This year, the entire region participated by creating their own “Grow Green” initiatives unique to each property.
39 Niagara West
At 39 Niagara West, staff hosted a “Succulent 101” workshop in collaboration with JOMO Plant Studios. Participants learned the art of planting and caring for succulents using recycled plant pots. The ambiance at Niagara West’s outdoor courtyard, complete with trees and a water feature, created a zen-like experience for residents. “It felt like they were planting inside an oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle,” said Nicole Alvarez, Regional Manager at Minto Apartments.
York Mills and Leslie & 37 Lord Seaton
The team at York Mills and Leslie and 37 Lord Seaton organized an engaging pop-up booth outside the rental offices. They handed out succulents, planting tips, guides, and cold refreshments. Residents were excited to learn that succulents are indoor air-purifying plants, adding an extra environmentally-friendly bonus.
All in all, these events across our Toronto properties have garnered rave reviews and residents are eagerly looking forward to future Grow Green initiatives.
Kudos to the dedication and creativity of our teams in delivering exceptional customer experiences, building meaningful initiatives, and creating lasting memories for our residents.
Looking Ahead
Project Grow Green is a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence and sustainability, and we look forward to introducing green initiatives across all of our properties. Together, we can make a difference and continue to leave our planet better than we found it.
