The International has been a prominent presence in Calgary’s skyline and the city’s history for five decades, with a storied past that includes high profile celebrities, athletes and public figures. Although originally designed as an apartment building, in 1970 it opened instead as the only “all-suite” hotel in North America known as The International Hotel.
From 2005 to 2016 the hotel hosted the Calgary Flames Training Camp (some stayed several months):
|Legends of the Fall||Unforgiven|
|Brad Pitt||Clint Eastwood|
|Anthony Hopkins||Morgan Freeman|
|Superman II||Silver Streak|
|Christopher Reeves||Richard Pryor|
|Margot Kidder||Buffalo Bill|
|Gene Hackman||Paul Newman|
During the 1988 Winter Olympics, the late Prince Ranier of Monaco and Princesses Caroline and Stephanie were guests of the hotel.
