The International has been a prominent presence in Calgary’s skyline and the city’s history for five decades, with a storied past that includes high profile celebrities, athletes and public figures. Although originally designed as an apartment building, in 1970 it opened instead as the only “all-suite” hotel in North America known as The International Hotel.
From 2005 to 2016 the hotel hosted the Calgary Flames Training Camp (some stayed several months):
Jerome Iginla
Mike Commodore
Lance Bouma
Michael Ferland
Matthew Tkachuk
Johnny Gaudreau
