New Community Retail Plaza underway in Morgan’s Grant
Ottawa, Ontario – April 23, 2008
Residents in Ottawa’s west end community of Morgan’s Grant in north Kanata will soon have a new shopping centre that will include Shoppers Drug Mart, TD Canada Trust, a food store and other local retail services. Morgan’s Grant is one of Ottawa’s most sought after thriving locations in the west end of the city.
Minto Commercial Properties Inc. continues to grow it’s commercial portfolio with recent City approval for Phase One of the new Morgan’s Grant Community Retail. Situated at the corner of March and Klondike Road, the shopping centre named Klondike Crossing will total 72,000 sq. ft. The plaza provides single storey retail space in an established residential neighbourhood in a location minutes from Kanata's high tech community that is home to thousands of employees and numerous highly recognized companies.
Minto is already well-known as one of the primary developers of Kanata North with their master-planned residential community of Morgan’s Grant. Since 1998, Minto has been offering new townhomes and single family homes for sale. Once completed, Morgan’s Grant will be home to almost 1,700 families. Executive Vice President Greg Rogers says, “Bringing retail amenities to residential communities where we build has always been an integral part of the development process at Minto. Klondike Crossing will generate employment opportunities, eliminate longer drives to stores and services and create quality time for area residents by having things nearby.”
The construction arm of The Minto Group will oversee the construction of this new commercial property with site servicing completed this month and footings for the first phase underway. Four tenant buildings will be ready for occupancy later this year.
