Minto Longbranch Third-Party Certification Information

What is Third Party Certification?

Minto proves its dedication to building healthier, more sustainable homes by carefully adhering to 100% third party energy and environmental verification programs like LEED® and ENERGY STAR®. These programs are a stamp of approval from a third party that Minto designs and builds to meet strict efficiency and performance standards.

Energy Star® at Minto Longbranch

Minto Longbranch will be ENERGY STAR® for New Homes qualified (all buildings except the stacked product on the East of the site). By owning an ENERGY STAR® home, it doesn‘t just mean you have ENERGY STAR® appliances. With an ENERGY STAR® home, you will be reducing your energy costs by approximately 25% through features such as enhanced insulation, high performance windows and air tight construction.

LEED® at Minto Longbranch

The stacked product on the East side of the site is pursuing LEED® for New Construction Silver certification. LEED® stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and verifies that Minto Longbranch homes are designed and built to achieve excellence in the areas of sustainable site development, water use efficiency, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.

Minto Longbranch Sustainability Features

Drought-Tolerant Landscaping
Your sod is drought tolerant and non-invasive, so that you can spend less money watering your grass and enjoy a fresh, green lawn longer during periods without rain.

Drain Water Heat Recovery (for upper units)
This pipe transfers heat from your drained shower water to incoming city water - therefore reducing the amount of energy used to heat your water.

Individual Metering
Your suite‘s cold and hot water, electricity and in-suite gas use are individually metered – ensuring that you only pay for the utilities you use.

Low-Flow Shower
A specially designed shower head provides a comfortable shower while using up to 35% less water than a standard showerhead. Hot water is available quickly to your shower, so you won‘t need to waste time or water waiting for your shower to warm up.

Low-Flow Toilets
Toilets in your suite use a proven 3-Litre flush - providing an effective flush while reducing your water consumption by 50%.

ENERGY STAR® Appliances
ENERGY STAR® appliances are standard in every home and include stainless steel refrigerator, dishwasher and front-loading washing machine. ENERGY STAR® qualified products use 30% less energy than non-ENERGY STAR® qualified products, saving you money while emitting fewer greenhouse gases.

All-Off Switch*
With this simple and convenient lighting control, one flick turns off all fixed lighting and designated green plugs when you leave your home.

Compact Fluorescent Lightbulbs (CFLs)
Your home uses compact fluorescent lighting technologies, which last longer and consume less energy than their incandescent counterparts.

family-grass *All-Off Switch available as an upgrade.

Increased Insulation and Air Tightness
1” of rigid insulation around the exterior of your home acts like a blanket around the building in the winter. A tighter building envelope reduces the leakage of heated or cooled air from the home - helping you save energy and money.

Building Systems
High-efficiency heating systems reduce energy consumption and generate fewer harmful emissions than a standard building. Reduced energy consumption, non-ozone depleting cooling systems and lower green house gas (GHG) emissions directly contribute to a healthier environment.

Your programmable thermostat enables you to fully program and schedule the temperature within your home. You can set back your thermostat to make it cooler while you sleep and save energy when you’re away.

Heat Recovery Ventilator
A HRV (heat recovery ventilator) is built into your home, providing heating and cooling to your home. It delivers fresh, filtered air to each room and circulates that fresh air throughout the home for improved ventilation, air quality and comfort while saving you money.

Low-Emitting Materials
Environmentally-friendly underlay, hardwood, ceramic flooring and low-toxicity paints will significantly reduce the amount of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the air you breathe.

Green Label Carpet
The low-emitting carpets in your home reduce the volume of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the air, allowing you to breathe easier.
