The Dirt - We're Coming Up! Building Above Ground. |
 |
|
At the beginning of November the minto775 construction crew reached a real milestone. Construction came above grade for the first time, as the first concrete columns were poured between the ground floor and the 2nd floor. We’re on our way up! And we couldn’t have picked a better place to start. The first verticals to spring up are part of the future Lounge/Party Room — specifically along the North perimeter wall, which will overlook our beautiful courtyard. Perfect for a party!!
Now you can see a lot more activity on the site, with verticals to the 2nd floor + lots of wall forms standing… you can really see everything taking shape. Right now, about 70% of the Ground Floor slab areas have been poured. If the weather keeps cooperating, the Ground Floor structure will be completed very soon. After that, we’ll keep working on the verticals to the 2nd Floor… heading toward the next big milestone of the 2nd Floor slab pour. Meanwhile, below grade, mechanical installation is continuing and mechanical and electrical rough-ins are progressing with the formwork.

Bathurst and Front was rocking on October 20th for the minto775 Block Party! With everything draped in dazzling red, it was a fantastic night. We loved the bite-sized goodies from L-EAT Catering, fabulous Smirnoff mixed drinks, the late-night chips, popcorn and candy... not to mention the flipbooks that captured it all.To kick off the evening, Toronto’s most up-and-coming fashion designer (and future minto775 resident) Lucian Matis wowed everyone with his runway show of beautiful designs.

Then the Juno-nominated funk-fusion band God Made Me Funky took to the stage for a spectacular live set. DJ K-NYCE made it the ultimate music experience as the party rhythms went on into the night. Future minto775 resident Brooke was the lucky winner of a trip for two to NYC. Congratulations Brooke and enjoy your trip! Many other partygoers won other great prizes courtesy of the generous King West community around minto775. It was more than a block party, it was a great party! A celebration of what’s soon to be King’s coolest address – minto775 King West.

Here’s an idea for the weekend. Check out SPiN, Toronto’s new ping-pong social club just blocks away from minto775! (What’s that?) SPiN is a 12,000 sq. ft. stroke of ping-pong brilliance with two bars, 12 tables, a great food and cocktail menu, awesome music, a private party room and more. You can hang out and play for fun, or enter tournaments and get instruction from professional players. Either way, you’ll have a great time. Inspired by a visit to SPiN in New York (celebrity Susan Sarandon is one of the geniuses behind the concept) owner Ryan Fisher brought SPiN to Toronto. Here you’ll find Olympic quality flooring and even change rooms and a private court… not to mention retro-classic food like fabulous tacos and grilled cheese, over-the-top cocktails by the SPiN mixology team (try the Lemon Lychee!) and a stellar wine and beer list. (Did we mention the bourbon-and-bacon caramel corn?) One of the best things about SPiN is that it makes table tennis accessible for people who love to play. Imagine… a place that isn’t your parents’ basement where you can play, eat, drink and hang out with friends! If you’re hooked on ping-pong, SPiN offers a $30 monthly membership providing member benefits such as free court rentals and the exclusive ability to reserve tables and bypass the line. But you don’t have to be a member to have fun at SPiN. If you’re a first time guest, reserve your courts in advance especially on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays because they book up fast!
Feel like practicing your overhead smash? Meet your friends at SPiN tonight! |

New Jersey Devils defenceman Matt Corrente knew he had scored when he discovered minto775 King West. “A friend of mine told me about minto775,” the 23-year old star athlete says. “I was really impressed with the company’s reputation and everything about the building, especially the prime location.”
During the hockey season, Corrente is on the road with a demanding schedule of games and training. But he’s looking forward to the summer months in Toronto’s King West neighbourhood, where he can work out in the morning, take a relaxed walk in the park, go for lunch close by… and at night, enjoy dinner at one of King West’s outstanding restaurants. When he moves into minto775, he’ll be right at the centre of everything he loves about Toronto.
This fall, Corrente suffered a shoulder injury that kept him off the ice for a while. But the talented player knows the importance of positive attitude. “Part of being a professional athlete is the mental strength you need,” he says. “You have to take things day by day and know that everything’s going to work out. I’ve been playing hockey all my life and being an NHL player has always been my dream. Injuries are unfortunate but you have to take time to get your strength back and maintain a positive outlook.” As a hockey player who has achieved major league success, Matt understands the meaning of excellence. Right from the start, he knew that Minto was a winning team.
“The way I’ve been treated as a new purchaser… and everything about the company really… has given me the impression that this is a Class A organization,” he says. “I’m really proud to be part of it.”
Minto is proud to welcome Matt Corrente to the minto775 community. We’ll be cheering for him as his NHL career continues!
